Francis Williams
Haida
(1936-2003)
Francis Williams was a goldsmith in Vancouver. He was born in 1936 at Masset, B.C. By 1960, he was exploring the art of the Haida. He began by studying the ancient works to the B.C. Provincial Museum in Victoria and learned the complexity of Northwest Coast designs. His piece for the Robes of Power exhibit was his first button-blanket commission.
