“This is a portrait of a grandmother and her granddaughter. Inuit children are often named after deceased relatives, elders and close friends of the family. The child then takes on the spirit of that person. In Labrador we traditionally believe this, here the granddaughter and the grandmother is actually the same person, a little grandmother in reincarnation of grandmother.”
