“The special race of people from out there. They came and stayed with us and lived with us for a time.

“They taught and gave us teachings of nature and self being. They taught us understanding of the laws of nature, spirituality and the art of giving. They gave us fire and many weapons that could wipe out hundreds at one wave of their weapon. They gave us means of travel. You think of where you want to go and in an instant we are there. They gave us a huge paddle and with a single stroke you are there. They gave us Klu-kwa-na — the wolf ritual. We re-enact their coming and their stay with us. Our teachers who left us so much! The little faces are qua ya-ciik tacumt. The human face is iik-mut — the beginning of time for our people.”
