New Zealand today with its highly urbanised, multi cultural society is home to many individuals facing an identity dilemma.

Exclusively from a New Zealand bicultural perspective and regardless of the side of the cultural scales, tradition, curiosity, the search for knowledge and learning for some of these people is needed in order for them to achieve a sense of order, balance and belonging in their lives.

The sculpture uses a jigsaw puzzle as a means to effect this perplexed state.

Where do my pieces fit?
Where do I want to fit my pieces?
Do my pieces fit where I want them?
How do I fit my pieces in?
Will I be allowed to fit my pieces in?

Perhaps these are some material aspects of his existence the subject is puzzling over?
