Jayme Anderson
Te Aupouri, Ngā Puhi, Tūhoe
(1977- )
Jayme Anderson is Te Aupouri tribe from Tekao on the northwest tip of North Island. His Māori / Anderson whakapapa (lineage) begins with the marriage of Erina Kaka to Andrija Kleskovic in 1891. Erina Kaka was the oldest of four children and the daughter of Chief Hohepa and Annetta. Andrija was shortened to Anaru, which is a version of Andrew. Andrija used to go to the courts with the Māori assisting them in the late 1800s and so it is said that the judge could not pronounce his name so decided that from now on he would be known as “Mr. Anderson”. They had thirteen children and the eleventh was named Peter Anderson.
