Jobie Crow lived in Kuujjuaraapik for most of his life, moving to the new community of Umiujaq in 1986. Charlie Sappa taught Jobie how to carve in 1967, the same year Jobie sold his first sculpture. Jobie carves just about anything out of stone, antler or ivory but he finds it easiest working with soapstone. Jobie is also a member of the Co-op Board of Directors, the FM radio station and the Municipal Corporation. Jobie’s wife is Umiujaq crafts artist Sarah Crow. They have five children.
