“This sculpture is the beginning of the Pathfinder Cenotaph series. The waka (Canoe) cenotaph represents a memorial marker of the journey and battles indigenous nations have encountered to survive in western society while still maintaining their rangatiratanga (independence) from the influences of this ever-changing world. Eternal Freedom Mō Ake Tonu Atu”.
