Elisapee Kanangnaq Ahlooloo

Arctic Bay, Nunavut Territory, Canada

(1918- )

Elisapee began carving in 1950 after watching other artists in Clyde River. She tried to tell of the early days of the Inuit way of life through her carvings. She enjoyed carving in both stone and ivory, and was also an excellent seamstress. Elisapee’s third husband was Arctic Bay artist Peter Ahlooloo. Their son Nashook is also a carver. A daughter, Qumangapik Muckpa, is an artist as well.
