“My Grandfather hosted a potlatch on October 10, 1998. I was 13-years-old at that time; the family asked me to dance the Rabbit Mask. I remember being so nervous to dance because of all the people that were in attendance. I wanted to back out of the dance because there were too many people. I remember my Aunty talking to me just before the dance was coming up. She told me that I was the only one who could dance this mask because I was the only one who practiced it out of the dance group. So I did the dance and it was the first mask dance I did in a potlatch. That is where I got my inspiration for this piece.”
