Shark Spirit Mask

Cherish was born in Terrace, BC in 1987. She grew up in Kitwanga, her father’s home community. Cherish’s mother is from the Tsimshian village of Kitkatla. Cherish first became interested in carving when she took a Grade 12 First Nations Art course in high school. The Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art gave her an opportunity to increase her knowledge and skill level while working under prominent artists such as Stan Bevan and Ken McNeil. They have provided a strong foundation for which she can build on for many years to come.
