9. Acrobat

Born in Hall Beach, George Auksaq moved to Igloolik with his parents when he was a young child. Auksaq considers himself to be a self-taught artist, though he says he did watch others carve. His mother Madeline is an ivory carver. Auksaq has worked in ivory, whalebone and stone. He recently completed a jewellery making course at Arctic College.
