Geese (1978)

Followers of Northwest Coast Indian art are familiar with the family crests of Beaver, Eagle, Raven, Whale and Wolf. In contemporary design it is exciting to see other species of the N.W. Coast wildlife depicted. The Canada Goose lends itself to the art-form with its natural grace and beauty. Needless to say it is not an unfamiliar sight in the Pacific Coast region, as we are fortunate to be in a “fly past” area and in fact have many “locals” living in our parks.

In my interpretation of this world-famous Canadian bird, I wanted to portray the strength of the wings and evoke the haunting call of the goose in flight.
