“Jimmy Memorana is known in Holman for his sensitive interpretations of the drawings of [Helen] Kalvak. He was born in 1916 near Tuktoyaktuk at the mouth of the Mackenzie River on the Beaufort Sea. Memorana has been living in the northwest of Victoria Island since 1936. He transfers the Kalvak drawings to stonecut with enormous skill. He also produces his own work.” — Arctic Values ‘65.
