Cape Dorset, Nunavut Territory, Canada
Napachie's father, Josephee Sharky, and grandfather Sharky Nuna, were drowned at the same time in 1979. His mother is Ragee Killiktee, a carver and the daughter of master carver Kuppapik Ragee; his older brother, Toonoo Sharky, is also a carver. Despite all these influences, Napachie has evolved his own style. His interest in the world around him is evident in his range of subjects, but he is best known for his carvings of birdlife, for which his open, delicate style is ideally suited.
