Peter lived a traditional life on the land in camps before he and his family moved to settle in Cape Dorset around 1962. Peter’s wife, Alashua Aningmiuq (1914-1972) was a graphic artist. Their sons, Jolly (1954 -), Salomonie (1956 -), and adopted son Kavavau Aningmiuq (1969 -) are all carvers in Cape Dorset.
