Gary Hill’s Gitxsan name means “The Great Sandbar at the Mouth of the Skeena River”. He belongs to the Thunderbird House Clan of Chief Wiget (Gisgahest) of Gitsegukla. Gary started carving in 2006.
Gary enjoys Gitxsan art, design and carving. He feels relaxed when drawing and carving cultural clan designs. The art makes him think about his ancestors and how they used these stories and laws for teaching. This knowledge inspires Gary to teach native fine arts.
