Latham’s traditional name is Quuluun (Beaver). He was born in 1985, in Bella Coola, BC. Latham designs, paints, and carves, working mostly in alder and yellow cedar. He carved his first mask at the age of 13 with Harvey Mack, Lawrence Mack and Alvin Mack.
In 2005, he was asked to help teach art in a summer youth program with the artist James Mack. In 2007, they were asked to carve a 16-foot totem pole. Latham developed a passion for art at a very young age and hopes that one day his work will inspire others.
“The instructors have opened my eyes to the importance of proper form line and balance of sculpture. Now the challenging part is, for me, to apply it to my artwork.”
