(1947- )
Lew Phillip has been carving since 1959. He is now an R.C.M.P. officer in Igloolik, but still carves part-time. He moved to Igloolik in July, 1992. Lew comes from a very artistic family. His father, the late Toongalook (1912-1967) was an artist. Lew is the youngest brother of four Arctic Bay artists. His brother, Philip Qamanirq, is a carver. His three sisters, Imaruituq Taqtu, Rebecca Issuqangituq, and Martha Erkasak Naqitaqvik, all make drawings as well as carvings.
