Sheojuk’s work appears for the first time in the 1994 Cape Dorset Graphics Collection. The accompanying biography describes her as an old woman who does not recall her exact date of birth. She is the daughter of Aashuyuliak and Shuvega, and she was raised in the traditional Inuit manner in camps on southern Baffin Island.
Jimmy Manning at the Dorset co-op first suggested that she experiment with drawing, and the image of the two owls (Upinnguaq 94-31) was the first drawing she produced.
