Eyeetsiak has been making art since he was a teenager and is credited as a printmaker in the 1961 Cape Dorset print release. In 1970, he received first prize for his sculpture Taloolayook and Man in the Northwest Territories Centennial Sculpture Competition (the piece was presented to HRH Queen Elizabeth II). His sculpture from the early 1960s already had the fluidity of line and use of cutaway that are now characteristic of his work. He was part of the 1980 “La d’esse inuite de la mer/The Inuit Sea Goddess” touring exhibition originated by the Mus’e des beaux-arts de Montreal, and his work continues to be exhibited nationally and internationally.
