Lyle Quock Jr. is a Tahltan First Nation artist from Telegraph Creek, BC. He has been a Northwest Coast artist for 15 years. His formal education has been attending the Kitanmaax School of Northwest Coast Indian Art at ‘Ksan, Hazelton, BC (1998) and he is a graduate of the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art in Terrace, BC (2014).
His artwork includes paintings and carvings such as portrait masks, spoons, bowls and he also makes tools with great pride. He enjoys teaching the art and says his greatest highlight of his career has been teaching at the Tahltan Secondary School in Telegraph Creek, BC. He believes Northwest Coast art can spark a light in youth and bring communities together.
Lyle hopes to honor his people by designing for regalia. He says there are big changes in their traditional lands and the people must be reunited through our old ways and believes art can do that. He works to master the old style and creates to develop his own style.
